As a Leadership Studies Minor, you participate in a unique set of experiences that qualify you for certification in service learning. They include taking a service learning course, learning about leadership and civic engagement, and completing 60 hours of community service. Through these experiences you have learned how to apply what you are learning in the classroom to help meet community needs. Because of this, you qualify for certification in service learning.

There are four components of certification for Leadership Studies students:
- Component 1: COMS 431 Communications and Leadership
- Component 2: COMS 532 Leadership Practicum
- Component 3: COMS 531 Seminar in Leadership Strategies and Applications
- Component 4: Class Reflection Attendance
